The article "Dream Interpretation: Falling Dreams" by Jenni Kosarin, is about dreams of falling and their meanings for them. Dreams of falling can be referred to as a fallen woman, a fall of grace, or the fall season. Also, the dream can be refer to what might have happened to you within the twenty-four hours prior to the dream. An example is about a young married woman dreamed that she was falling from a building. Her metaphor is about her affair with a married man at her office. It did not just represent a fall from grace, she was afraid for her marriage if her husband found out. Sometimes dreams will have a certain "zing" to it, and you will automatically know the reference. Normally people need to take a dream apart piece by piece to understand the meaning. "Classic dream themes such as falling or taking a test don't qualify as archetypal because they're not forces within us" (Kosarin). They usually lie in our daily lives and experiences. A dream the therapist named Gayle Delaney suggests to everyone that you can ask yourself about: how you feel in your dreams when you are falling, do you feel terrified, do you feel helpless, do you feel out of control, or is it a sensation pleasant. A good strategy to help interpret your dreams is to write down everything you remember from your fallen dream; that will help you find meanings from dream dictionaries and the Internet.
The article above helped with my topic because it focuses on a certain type of dream and helps figure out the different variations of interpretations. Falling dreams are very common and when having them, your body has a reaction to what you see. When your body jumps and you wake up, it is because you witnessed a falling dream and they can be scary. Kosarin gives an example about the woman, but I do not see how that completely relates to falling dreams; therefore I think she could have used a better example than this one. Over all in my opinion the article was pretty helpful. If she would have put a little more information there, then I think the article would have been better and more fulfilling.
